About Speaker
Greg Chapman is a Southern California native. He found an early entrance into the world of clothing when he found work modeling tailored clothing for local department stores. He graduated from the University of Hawaii, where he worked as a lifeguard. In his early 20’s he took a trip to live in India briefly. What was supposed to be a month-long stay, became more than a year. While living in Bombay, India in the late 1960’s he had a few suits made which he recalled ‘gave him a look of success like he had never seen before.’ Not only were his clothes a superior fit, but the tailor continued to send perfect fitting new orders without the need of fittings, alterations, or having to go pick up and try on new clothes. It was then that he decided to make a business of this “lost art” approach. Although he didn’t realize it at the time, he had stumbled on the authentic, now nearly extinct, approach to custom tailoring as it had been taught by the British to the East.
That was the inspiration upon which he based his business in 1968. Since then, thousands of clients from around the world, each with their unique stories of success, have visited Greg Chapman to build them incredible wardrobes. Often these were other ambitious men at the beginning of their careers who stayed with Greg for as long as 40 years, referring family, friends, and colleagues too. Along the way Greg trained and developed many entrepreneurial minded salesmen and women, whom after working with Greg for several years would go on to form other multi-million dollar businesses in various industries.
Today Greg spends his time actively involved with his family, his showroom in Beverly Hills, speaking engagements, with friends and clients, and continues to travel the world.
